A community that is changing the future of thousands of children in the heart of Uganda

TakeMeBack is launching a new charity initiative to support the community of Bisanje, a rural village located in the Masaka district, in the heart of Uganda.

A place where poverty is still a daily challenge, but where one person’s determination is helping to write a different story for thousands of children.

This mission stems from a meeting with Father John, the pastor of the Bisanje community, and from the desire to support a project that, in just a few months, has already made a tangible difference in the lives of hundreds of families.

The Story of Father John

The community of Bisanje is located in the Masaka district, in the heart of Uganda. Father John, a priest who is very familiar with the hardships faced by the children in his area, lives and works here. As a child, he walked three hours each way to school every day. He had no shoes, and when it rained, he used a banana leaf to shield himself from the rain. His family, which included many siblings, could barely afford the cost of his education. His life changed when a priest decided to believe in him and support him in his studies. Today, Father John has returned to his homeland with a specific goal: to offer other children the opportunities he himself received.

A Growing Community

Upon his return to Uganda, Father John began a long process of listening to and getting to know the area, visiting each home in the village one by one to understand the families’ needs.
The community of Bisanje is home to about 1,000 families and more than 5,000 children. In just a few months, major educational and healthcare projects have been launched that are already changing the lives of hundreds of people.
Today, more than 610 children attend school regularly, while dozens of families receive healthcare through facilities created and supported by the community.

School Supplies for the Mission

During the mission, TakeMeBack’s Solidarity Couriers will personally deliver school supplies to students in the Bisanje community.
Backpacks, notebooks, pens, pencils, crayons, and educational materials are essential resources for children and teens who often lack even the basics needed to attend class.
Each delivery will be made directly on site and documented by the TakeMeBack team, allowing supporters to see firsthand the impact of their donations and track the journey of the aid all the way to its final recipients.

A Future Built Together

The mission’s goal is not merely to distribute supplies, but to help strengthen an educational project that is already underway and capable of generating a lasting impact.
The school in Bisanje serves children from preschool through secondary school and provides a safe place for many of them to study, grow, and imagine their future.
Through this mission, TakeMeBack aims to support Father John and his community in the journey of growth they are building every day, offering new opportunities to hundreds of children and their families.
