The project

A world united by solidarity

In a world often overwhelmed by indifference and individualism, we dream of igniting a spark of hope, awakening the innate beauty of solidarity in every corner of the global community. We want to set off a powerful and profound chain reaction that knows no end.

Our goal is to build a network of Solidarity Couriers who combine travel with charity in a completely new way. Travel becomes not only a means of reaching a destination, but also a symbolic bridge to people’s hearts, bringing aid and solidarity where it is needed most.

“Corrieri Solidali” is not just the name of the project, but an invitation to get involved and make a difference. And as the routes intertwine and the couriers travel, our hope is that every step will bear witness to human generosity. Through the power of communication, we want to share these stories of solidarity, confident that each one will inspire others to create a more united and compassionate world.

Video request

A traveler records a video in which students from a school or orphanage make a request for help.

Fundraising

The TakeMeBack team verifies the request and creates a fundraising campaign via ad hoc online crowdfunding.

Documentary

The Solidarity Couriers reach their destination, purchase the materials, and deliver them, recording a documentary that recounts the mission.

HOW SOLIDARITY COURIERS ARE CREATED

In November 2015, Andrea and Erika embarked on a trip to Sri Lanka. During their journey, they met a truly special family: a father who repaired bicycles, a mother, and their four children. The family welcomed them into their home—a small space of about 20 square meters nestled near the jungle—treating them like special guests and sharing the warmth of their family life with them…

The idea

As they were saying goodbye, the mother of that wonderful family asked if they could send her the photos Erika had taken during the afternoon they had spent together. The two agreed enthusiastically, surprised that, instead of money, the family had simply asked for photos—to remember them by and to hang on the bare walls of their little house as family portraits.

A little help

Once back in Italy, Andrea and Erika were determined to send the photos, even though they knew there was little chance they would arrive—in some countries, it’s very difficult to mail anything. That’s when Antonio, their close friend and a globetrotter for over ten years, stepped in. He assured them he could deliver the photos, since he was planning a trip to Sri Lanka.

Delivery

In January 2016, Antonio traveled to Sri Lanka and recorded a video of the handover. The joy Andrea and Erika felt at seeing how moved a man was to receive some simple photos, and the joy Antonio felt in handing them over, were among the most beautiful emotions they had ever experienced. This is the goal of the Corrieri Solidali: to awaken the beauty of solidarity in human beings.
