A Shoe for Volta – Munje School Kenya
The Mission
One shoe at a time, one step at a time
One shoe at a time, one step at a time
"Hello, I'm Federica Troiano, a Take Me Back Solidarity Courier. I'm currently in Msambweni Munje, in Kwale County, Kenya. During my visit to Munje Primary School, I saw firsthand just how serious the problem of sand fleas is. These children need shoes to protect their feet and to be able to go to school without fear of infection. I will personally handle purchasing the shoes and delivering them to the children. Every donation, big or small, helps improve their lives. I will document every step of the mission to show you the direct impact of your contribution. Together we can make a difference, one step at a time, one shoe at a time."
The problem facing the children at Munje School in Kwale County, Kenya, is the sand fly.
This insect attacks children’s feet by burrowing into their skin and causing very serious infections, preventing them from running and playing freely.
It also prevents them from getting to school, since many villages are miles and miles away—a distance these children walk every day. This also jeopardizes their education.
The lack of shoes leaves these children vulnerable to flea bites, and their families cannot afford this "luxury."
Local organizations provide medical care at their own expense whenever possible.
Unfortunately, this is not enough; it is a good solution, but it is too temporary and not consistent. After receiving treatment, the children go back to walking barefoot.
Your generosity can make a difference! Your support will help these children overcome their fear of walking!
