Namunukula preschool – Sri Lanka

A solidarity project between the comprehensive school 4 in Chieti (Selvaiezzi) and the Tamil Namunukula School (Sri Lanka)

TakeMeBack is launching a new fundraising project in support of theTamil Namunukula School, a small nursery school located in the green heart of Sri Lanka, in the mountains of theBadulla district.
A simple but lively place, consisting of two classes of children, immersed in an extraordinary natural setting and filled with smiles, colors, and a strong desire to learn.

The initiative stems from a collaboration with theSelvaiezzi nursery and primary school, with the aim of involving children, families, and the educational community in a shared journey of solidarity, awareness, and cultural exchange.

A collaboration that generates value

Through the contribution and participation of the Selvaiezzi school, the project aims to:
1 – promote a culture of care, mutual aid, and attention to those living in more fragile contexts among children;
2 – actively involve families in fundraising for the purchase of school supplies, backpacks, shoes, and basic necessities for the children of the Tamil Namunukula School;
3 – initiate a symbolic twinning between the two schools, capable of creating a human and educational bond that transcends geographical and cultural distances.

The role of the children of the Selvaiezzi school

The pupils will play an active role in the project through:
1 – creating drawings and small creative projects to send to their peers in Sri Lanka;
2 – educational activities dedicated to reflecting on the values of friendship, sharing, and caring for others;
3 – storytelling, viewing images, and testimonials, designed to help children understand the daily lives of their peers at the twin school.
The activities will be integrated into the educational program, transforming the project into a participatory educational experience consistent with the school's values.

A mission in the field

The mission will be carried out entirely by Anthea and Dilakshan, TakeMeBack Solidarity Couriers who live permanently in Sri Lanka and have long supported the association's activities in the area.

Thanks to their direct commitment, the children of Namunukula will receive all the materials they need to study, draw, and play, helping to make the school environment more welcoming and stimulating.

The materials will be purchased locally, with the aim of supporting the local economy, and will be delivered personally by Anthea to the school, ensuring transparency, practicality, and immediate impact.

What we will purchase thanks to your donation

Thanks to the donations collected, we will purchase a complete set of school supplies for105 children. Specifically, each child will receivenotebooks and textbooksfor daily study.
All the mainstationery items will also be provided, such aspencils, erasers, pencil sharpeners, pens, along withcrayons and colored pencilsfor creative activities,glue,rulers, andscissors, which are essential for classroom work. In addition to educational materials, we will also purchaseessential accessories for everyday school life: a waterbottle, alunch box, aschool backpack, andan umbrella. The goal is to provide each child witha complete school kit, designed to cover not only their study needs but also their practical everyday needs.
