A charity project between TakeMeBack and Xavier House in Umphang

TakeMeBack is launching a new fundraising campaign to support Xavier House, a shelter located in Umphang, on the border between Thailand and Myanmar, in the heart of one of the most remote and hard-to-reach areas of Southeast Asia. It is an extraordinary place, brought to life every day by the presence of 64 children living at the Center and 28 young Burmese migrants at the nearby Learning Center: 92 children in all, cared for with dedication by Father Alessio Crippa, a Xaverian missionary who chose to settle in that land to serve those most in need.

Xavier House is not just a building—it’s a family. It’s a place where children fleeing war and poverty find shelter, education, and a real chance to imagine a different future.

A collaboration that generates value

Through the efforts of TakeMeBack and its community, the project aims to:
1 – Combat illiteracy by providing a solid educational path for children in Karen villages, preventing them from dropping out of school.
2 – Promote a culture of peace by supporting the development of young people capable of building positive relationships and overcoming cycles of violence through education and universal brotherhood.
3 – Restore dignity, not through charity but with practical tools for learning: every backpack delivered is a message of hope for a child’s future.
4 – Expanding missionary work to reach Karen children in nearby villages, extending the Center’s impact beyond its walls.

The role of donors and the community

Supporting this project means choosing not to be a bystander. It means becoming part of a shared life with those who, despite having little, have everything to give. The children at Xavier House aren’t asking for grand gestures: they’re asking for the chance to study, to hold a pen in their hands, to open a notebook knowing that someone, on the other side of the world, believed in them.

With TakeMeBack, every donation goes directly to its destination, without intermediaries and without any losses. At the end of the mission, every donor will be able to see with their own eyes, through photos and videos, the real impact of their contribution.

A mission in the field

The mission will be led by Father Alessio Crippa, a Xaverian missionary who has chosen to live and work for years in Umphang, one of the most remote and hard-to-reach areas of Thailand, on the border with Myanmar. Every day he travels the trails of the northwest to be close to his young people, building a bond with them based on trust, presence, and quiet dedication. He is not just a passing volunteer: he is part of that community, and knows it like few others in the world.

By his side, in spirit and in action, are Mattia Melone and Charline Annie, the Solidarity Couriers who will travel to the Center to deliver the supplies and document every moment of the handover. The school supplies will be purchased directly on-site, at local prices and in support of the local economy, without intermediaries and without waste.

What we will purchase thanks to your donation

Thanks to the donations we’ve collected, we will purchase a complete school kit for each of the 92 children in the project.
For the 64 children at the Center, each kit will include: a backpack, blue and red pens, pencils, erasers, pencil sharpeners, crayons, glue, sketchbooks, and correction fluid for the older children. For the 28 young people at the Learning Center, an equivalent kit designed to support their learning journey. The goal is to ensure that no child starts the school year without the necessary supplies.

The fundraising goal is set at €1,100, which covers school supplies, on-site logistics, and a reserve for fluctuations in the Bath/Euro exchange rate. Any unspent funds will be allocated entirely to future missions of the Corrieri Solidali.
